As December rolls in, our beloved stretch of Hove beach huts begins to glow a little warmer. The nights may be drawing in faster, and the sea breeze may carry a sharper chill, but that only makes the twinkling lights and festive spirit feel even more magical.

This is the month when the seaside slows down (unfortunately so do the sales!), the sunsets soften into deep winter hues of red and purple and the run-up to Christmas transforms our colourful huts into tiny beacons of cheer. Whether you’re sipping something warm inside your hut, taking a twilight walk along the promenade, or simply enjoying the hush of the winter sea, December at the beach is full of charm.

The Beach Hut Open Evening

⏰ 4pm – 6pm

This treasured annual tradition, that morphed from the advent opening and started after Covid, returns once again, bringing together hut owners, friends, families and anyone who loves a bit of seaside sparkle. As the sky darkens, the huts light up, fairy lights, decorations and all the creativity you can imagine.

Laura from ‘Darling Beach Huts’ will welcome you at Beach Hut 128, with festive treats and a friendly hello. Please come by, say hi, and help us spread some seasonal joy.

🎶 Music & Community Spirit on Hove Lawns

A little further along on Hove Lawns Beach Hut 71 owners Pippa and Billy will be hosting live music to get everyone into the Christmas mood. Expect cheerful tunes drifting across the promenade and a warm welcome you won’t want to miss.

🌙 Why We Love December by the Sea

December may give us darker nights, but it also reminds us of everything that makes the beach hut community so special, togetherness, creativity, generosity and those magical moments when the lights inside the huts glow just a little brighter than the winter sky.
